We are a non-profit advisory firm whose mission is to accelerate America’s transition to a performance-driven social sector. Founded in 2011, Third Sector has positioned itself as a leading practitioner of Pay for Success (PFS) in the United States. Third Sector is able to drive government resources toward proven, evidence based social programs that effectively improve the lives of America’s most vulnerable populations. Third Sector accomplishes this by working with governments, social service providers, impact investors, and evaluation/data experts to design, fund, and implement Pay for Success projects and practices around the country. Third Sector has nearly 40 employees with offices in San Francisco, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

About the Associate role

We are looking for highly driven, entrepreneurial, passionate, and rigorous professionals to join our fast-paced, innovative, and growth-oriented firm advancing PFS across the country. You will work closely with Third Sector Managing Directors, Directors, and Managers, providing direct support on our PFS work around the country. In addition, you will play an integral role in supporting business development efforts, procurement responses, and internal initiatives driving Third Sector’s continued growth. At this time, we are looking to add Associates in our San Francisco and Boston offices.

Our Hiring Process:

Our hiring process is designed to give candidates insight into the nature of the challenges that we face in our daily work and bring into focus the candidates that we have learned will be most successful in this role and in our organization. There are five phases of our process:

Note: We intentionally do not ask for a cover letter, and will not review résumés until Phase 4.  This "bias blind" process is aimed at opening this opportunity to more candidates; reviewing applicants on performance assessments instead of resume proxies (e.g.where you went to school).
